Todays post is for Streak the Tiger.

This was a very challenging suit to build for a couple reasons. First, this is fur from Distinctive fabrics. I will say it is a well made fur, but I'm not a fan of it. It's very soft tho it has a potential to mat when abused and holy crap does it ever get into everything when I'm working on it. I was sneezing orange for a week after this project! ^.^ The second challenge was that for some reason I agreed to sew all these markings in rather then airbrushing. It took soooooo much time and fiddling to sew them all in. Whole days were spent stitching him together. But he did turn out very cute in the end!

I do like him a lot! The suit is flexible, uber soft, and turned out with lots of personality. He was very charming once he was all together and out of my nasal passages! ^.^ He is eminently huggable! As always there are more pictures of Streak in his Gallery on the One Fur All Studios website.

Pics of the next suits will be posted after their debut at Midwest Fur Fest. Until then, thank you for reading and have a very good day!

Ten Things You May Not Know About Midwest FurFest! #3: Amazing Programming!
by Duncan da Husky ([info]duncandahusky)
at November 12th, 2009 (12:21 pm)

As we count down with excitement to Midwest FurFest 2009, a bunch of introductory text that you may or may not read but let's skip to the important stuff: TEN THINGS THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT MIDWEST FURFEST!

Number Three: MFF has some great programming!

We know that there are dozens of furry conventions out there, and we feel that it is our duty to make your time at Midwest FurFest more than just a "standard convention experience". To that end, we work hard to come up with truly innovative programming, and to improve on some of your favorites each year to make them memorable for you. A great example of this is our Furry Variety Show, at 7 PM Saturday in Ravinia DEF.

Did you know that the Furry Variety Show has existed even longer than MFF itself? It was born back at Duckon, a local science fiction convention, about 15 years ago. The FVS is a little like a furry vaudeville show. Acts are limited to three minutes (we are enforcing that more aggressively now). We all cooperate to try to make everyone's acts succeed. We do prefer that acts be performed in fursuit or with furry puppets. If you have an act or a desire to participate, visit the convention web site for more information and then send email to fvs.2009@furfest.org.

This year, we've made some changes to the FVS to make participation easier.
--We've moved to 7pm Saturday instead of Friday midnight - more rehearsal time and easier to attend.
--People disliked the single long rehearsal, so we restructured so that participants only need to attend one of two shorter rehearsals.
--We now accept video submissions as acts (see our website for guidelines for this).
--Our main stage is 40 x 14 feet for your cavorting pleasure.

As for new and innovative programming, this year we are presenting "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind" by The Neo-Futurists. This will be a theater experience unlike anything you've ever seen before...unless you've caught their long-running late-night show in Chicago. Every weekend they endeavor to present thirty plays in sixty minutes, an ever-changing variety of short-short plays written by the Neo-Futurists themselves. Their approach to theater is something that is best seen to be fully understood, and while the theory and concepts behind the performances are fascinating, the finished product can be hilarious, dramatic, thought-provoking, and at times interactive. This performance will be specially tailored to furry fandom, and it's something that you are not going to want to miss. The show will be on Saturday at 5 PM in Ravinia DEF.

We've worked hard to create a Programming schedule filled with a great combination of your old favorites and new and exciting panels and events found only at Midwest FurFest. As always, we apologize if two or even three of your favorite panels are scheduled on top of each other - there are only so many hours available for scheduling in the weekend (and we still haven't had any luck with anyone taking the coveted Sunday-at-6 AM time slot! I wonder why?).

That's all for this installment of TEN THINGS THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT MIDWEST FURFEST! We're getting down to the wire, now - tune in tomorrow to see what Number Two will be.

Sorry for the untimely nature of this post. Between recovery, work and MFF fun I've been far from LJ-inclined.

Friday was my official birthday. I'm an old(er) fart now. Since I have an amazing and understanding boyfriend, he said I could go out and be a deviant Friday night and have my birthday party Saturday night. So Friday, after work, I met up with folks to attend MIR (Mr. Intl Rubber for those of pure mind and body) events in the city. Ended up grabbing dinner with friends and then heading to Cell Block. Had an absolutely amazing time. Thanks [info]jet_der_hundfor giving crash space to the drunk, old mutt!

Saturday morning I woke up relatively early, rode back to the burbs, said hello to my AMAZING boyfriend (who was already starting to cook for the evening's party), showered, changed and then headed back into the city after changing out the battery in the moto. I toured MIR's market for some time, resisting blowing the paycheck on hotness and instead finding a pretty awesome used Orca wetsuit that was in pristine shape. I feel better spending on things that serve a dual purpose (at least that helps me sleep at night). Eventually I made it back home, cleaned the house as wuf was passed out in bed, and got everything ready for the party. The party was atypically awesome. For some reason or another everything seemed to flow quite nicely throughout the night. We had plenty of food, beer, fire and "fuk u dolphins!!!". Thanks to everyone who showed up, thanks for all the fantastic booze and gifts (except for Street - your 40oz sucked :P) and thanks to my wonderful wufwuf for all the cooking and hard work you put into the fiesta!

Sunday we reluctantly woke up early to prep for a group ride with folks. 65F and sun IN NOVEMBER?? It was crazy nice and we got in a really good ride before the ground turns white. We went straight from the group ride to the last MFF meeting before the con :X The finish line is in sight. So after meeting fun, wuf and I headed downtown to meet up with the MIR crew again. Wuf was exhausted from the weekend's activities and worried about Chaos getting into post-party goodies, so he ended up calling it a night early. I decided to say in town and eventually made it to Sidetracks for Rubber + Showtunes night. Still sporting my 1-piece leathers, I kinda stood out like a sore thumb, but it's funny how many guys put moves on you if your bike is rockstar parked in front of the club. I got hit on a ton, told people I was already taken a ton and refused to take people on rides a ton :P It was a very flattering night and I had fun watching all my pervy friends get absolutely blasted on purples, reds and oranges.

Because I am old and crap, it took me a bit to recover from all the fun. However, I've been joining wuf at Bally's now and digging into a pretty serious routine; much moreso than in workouts past. I'm even tracking my routines on my superior phone product! As much as working out at home was fine for minor things, I am glad he encouraged me to go ahead and take a plunge back into gym work. It's been touch and go finding machines that don't aggravate my back issues, but there should be plenty for me to break myself on :)

Thanks again everyone for all the bday wishes!

Time to post again! The last month or so has mainly been a blur of work. The last three suits all had very complex markings. And complex markings always mean time and fiddly work. It's been good tho. [info]havoas_mike and I have had a good work routine going. My only complaint would be that we've had to do a lot of long hours. Unfortunately you cant really work "faster" with fursuit building; you can only work longer and to the exclusion of everything else. Generally I think the results are worth it tho. :)

Today I am posting a Great Dane suit called Black Dawg. This was an interesting character to work on. Great danes are one of the largest hounds. Very long faces. And in this case he is harlequin colored. Nice pattern of white with black spots. Similar to a Dalmatian but with more patches then just spotting.

The face was especially fun. He looks quite serious from the front, but from the side he just looks sweet and gentle.

I'm still waiting for more pics from his new owner, but in the meantime you can check out a few more images of Black Dawg in his gallery on the One Fur All Studios website -

Right now we're gearing up for MFF. I am very happy to say that I will be one of the returning Guest of Honor at Midwest Fur Fest this year. I'm very much looking forward to it. MFF has always been an awesome con to attend, and I think this year is going to be a huge amount of fun!! It will be good to get a couple days off and to be able to hang out with friends from both near and far! :)

For now I must get back to work, but tomorrow I'll be posting another of our new suits - Streak the Tiger!! Until then have a very awesome night!

Ok..PAYBACK

I have lived in Tilts house for 7 1/2 months now and I have had to endure critters in my room, frogs in the kitchen, pinball madness, broken things, and terrible B movies! "Moron Movies" and "Pink Flamingo" alone are worth the payback. Well..here's the thing. I have to get back at him the best way I know how, and I found the perfect comeback...

I want to decorate his house for Christmas!!

HE HATES CHRISTMAS!!!

But I can't do it alone, I need your help!!

I need the whole dang house decorated from top to bottom with Xmas trees, wreaths, mistletoe, music, presents, carolers, and whatever else Christmasy. For those that want to help decorate, you can privately message me or leave a comment. For those that live a gazillion miles away don't worry...if you have any christmas crap..no matter how gaudy (in fact thats better) that you want to get rid of...send it to me!! Again private message me or leave a comment. All comments will be screened mostly cause I don't want him knowing who will be involved in all this until the big day.

I figure that December 18th and 19th would be a great time for decorating! We will make a party out of it! Whoo hoo, Christmas spirit, lets show this humbug what he's missing and give me some much needed revenge!!!

Well, no, not exactly. My roommate got it, and I managed to avoid getting it.
In other news, not much else has been happening. I've got a project for metals due in a few days which I think I will be able to finish on time, but I managed to burn two of my fingers by picking up a piece of hot copper.
School is mostly going well, except for Spanish and Corporations. My last test in spanish was a C, compared to when I was getting easy A's in high school. I haven't gotten a grade for my latest Corporations for Activists paper, but I have a feeling my professor will find a way to grade me harshly for any paper I would write. The good news is that come next semester, I will be dropping both of those classes like they were hot pieces of copper. I'm going to be replacing them with The Trojan War and Intro to American Politics, which both look like they'll be more interesting (and in english).

Geocaching Panel

at November 11th, 2009 (10:01 pm)

So...Do you like Geocaching? Need info on a new GPSr? Want to hear and share horror and fun stories about caching? Never heard of it??? Well, At MFF this year, join [info]luckytheevildog and myself as we share all of the above. Tales of great hides, and awesome finds, discussions on geocoins and pathtags, software, and of course, the all popular travel bugs will be covered.

Oh, for those coming to the panel on Friday night @ 7PM...we'll have a special cache for you to find! This will NOT be an official MFF event or Geocaching cache, as we would like only those coming to the panel to find it; it will not be published on Geocaching's website. So you'll have to come to the panel to get the coordinates. I have a feeling its going to be a tad harder to find than your normal ones too! And FTF will get a special prize ^.^

Well got more info. Looks like Fran died yesterday morning early and was found sitting in a chair in the living room looking like she was getting ready for the day, though there where signs she moved there from her bathroom since everything in there was knocked over. Grandpa had a premonition something and called w/ no answer. Called again that evening and still nothing. So he called the sharif dept who found the body. The coroner was called and currently thinks she was dead over 12 hours before the body was found and based on logic and other things (settings on pain pump, etc.) thinks it was an accidental overdose of morphine along with other perception drugs in her system. There were no signs of suicide thankfully. The neighbors have been very helpful and are crushed, looks like she made great friends with most of them, that is good she had such good friends. One major problem is that one said she talked and helped Fran with a will and testament recently but nothing has been found. So more digging will have to take place. We we are looking to set up a fund under her name (or donations of all the money received at the funeral, or something like that) to the local humane society.

So first lesson learned, tell someone where your will is (and have one)... also the rest of your papers/safty deposit box as well... This seems to be turning into a pain in the butt so far... we are having to search everywhere since nothing is in a logical place.
